BHC Season 16 Sept - Dec 2025

We started the session recording Lesley Evans sharing the stories of 3 key mebers in the Pennant family and then we focussed on 'history in the making’ when groups came over from Jamaica to North Wales and groups from North Wales made it to Jamaica - only to be turned nd returned back home because of the Category 5 Hurricane that bore down on the island bringing so much devastation to the Western Parishes.

Barrington Richardson, Director of Education in Clarendon joined us on BHC to bring us up to date with the situation after Hurricane Melissa devastated parts of the island of Jamaica. We supported and raised about £5000 in Phase One.

Now the North Wales Jamaica Society are planning Phase 2

Earlier on in Season 16 we also welcomed Liberty Paterson from the National Archives to start to find out about her work relating to the maritime history of the trade of enslaved people, the PASSAGE project, and an intro to the T 71 slave registers - we were able to share our work and ask for advice and help - Libby will present again in more depth at a later date
